Emerging Technologies

Solar Technology

An article I read about "high efficiency" solar panels that could convert 34% of the light that hits them to energy. I infer that eventually solar panels will convert over 90% of the light to energy. Machines can't have an efficiency higher than 99%. What surprised me the most was that Semprius, the company who made the solar cells made $44 million. Any future possibilities include the solar panel getting direct sunlight. If you look at the list from 2009, you will find that some of those technologies which were new then are being used now. One example of these is software defined networking. In my opinion, these solar cells should have at leasst 70% efficiency in direct sunlight.

Windows 8 New File System

This article talks about a new file system Windows 8 uses called ReFS. This stands for resilient file system. In the past, files on a windows OS would be easily corrupted. At the time, Mac and Linux are better options only due to the fact that files would not corrupt as easily. However, ReFS changes this situation. It tries to keep files uncorrupted in several ways. These ways include verifying and auto-correcting data, isolating files that are corrupt, and keeps an entire volume intact online. ReFS is intended for storage spaces. It will eventually be used for clients.

1st post

Hi, this is my 1st blog post. I am using this blog for my Online Experience class for the most part. However, I will occasionally post about other things as well. Some of these things include games like Atmosphir and MineCraft, stuff in my personal life, and a few other things. I don't have much else to say.
